TD-SCDMA Update

- Datang Mobile, one of the developers of China's homegrown TD-SCDMA 3G standard, has signed a total of 35 contracts with 25 terminal product makers so far. Overall value of theses contracts is estimated at approximately 103.8 million RMB (US$14.2 million; US$1 = 7.3 RMB). As per the terms of these contracts, the respective makers were thus enabled to leverage Datang's TD-SCDMA solutions, China Business News reported, citing an official of China's MII (Ministry of Information Industry).

- Datang's TD-SCDMA solutions include single-mode TD-SCDMA solutions and dual-mode TD-SCDMA/GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications)/GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) solutions, supporting standards and applications such as Videophone, video streaming, IM (Instant Messenger), DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale), DM (Device Management), MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3), MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), IrDA (Infrared Data Association), and Bluetooth.
